Heidi Curry qualifications
- Education: Ms. Curry holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin where she majored in Humanities Honors with a concentration in Latin American Studies (1998). Her double major was in Spanish Honors, and she minored in Business Foundations. She earned 270 hours, with a 4.0 GPA. Honors include: Magna Cum Laude, Dean’s Distinguished Graduate, and the Bernard & Audrey Rapoport Fellowship for research she conducted in Peru.
- Personnel, Financial and Project Management: Ms. Curry worked for five years as a consultant to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Washington, DC, USA (1999-2004). She managed more than 15 staff and subcontractors, and led multiple projects for the U.S. federal government with annual budgets up to $250,000USD. Ms. Curry’s project management responsibilities included: long-term vision planning, staffing, operational execution, and financial management of government audited costs. In addition to her work with the EPA, Ms. Curry created, and co-owns H&H Designs, a t-shirt manufacturing company which she incorporated in the State of Texas.
- Teaching and Publishing: For the U.S. EPA, Ms. Curry developed and conducted training for hundreds of professionals across the United States, and in Brazil and China (2001-2004). She published two articles in trade journals. Ms. Curry professionally tutored college students at House of Tutors in Austin, Texas (1995-1997), and high school students at Austin Lakeview Learning Center (1996-1997). She worked as a full-time PADI dive instructor at Frenchies Diving on Caye Caulker where she certified more than 100 divers (2004-2006).
- Teaching in Belize: Ms. Curry volunteers as an after-school tutor and an in-school small-group teacher at the Caye Caulker Roman Catholic School (2007-2008). She teaches PADI Emergency First Response (CPR and First Aid) to Caye Caulker residents. She is a volunteer ESL teacher for Caye Caulker children and adults.
- Business in Belize: Ms. Curry is a small business owner on Caye Caulker. She and her husband established Anglers Abroad Fly Fishing Shop and Sea Dreams Guest Houses.
- Stakeholder: As the mother to a one-year old, Ms. Curry is motivated to establish an excellent high school for the island.
